This paper describes the World Bank's history of support for malaria control, its ongoing efforts, and plans for the future, with emphasis on the Global Strategy and Booster Programme for malaria control that was launched in April 2005. It also corrects some of the issues presented by Attaran and colleagues against the World Bank's efforts on malaria control [Lancet (2006) 368; 247-252], such as accusations of financial concealment, choice of obsolete antimalarial treatment, false statistics on malaria control, and the suggestion of relinquishing its funding to a better agency.
