Notes are given on functional bowel disorders. Milk colic is described, with reference to etiology, gastrointestinal causes, psychological causes, and treatment (including diet modification and pharmacological treatment). Functional diarrhoea is considered, including etiology and physiopathology, clinical manifestations, diagnostics, treatment and prevention. Diagnostic criteria are listed for irritable intestine syndrome, and epidemiology, physiopathology, and treatment are discussed.
