Cytoreductive surgery as an alternative to palliative operations in oncology (the model of treatment of stage IV colorectal cancer)

Based on an analysis of treatment of patients with colorectal cancer of the IV stage in two groups of patients by the method of cytoreductive technology (58 patients) compared with a group (64 patients) treated using palliate operations, the author makes a conclusion that cytoreductive operations are an alternative to palliative interventions since they give longer survival and save quality of life. The adjuvant immunochemotherapy is thought to be a necessary component of cytoreductive operations.
