Butyl-butanol-nitrosamine was applied in a dosage of 10 mg/kg/day in the drinking water to 40 male Sprague-Dawley rats. After a medium induction time of 400±45 days, animals all died with squamous cell carcinomas of the urinary bladder. The additional application of a high dose of cyclamate (2500 mg/kg/day) did not enhance the bladder cancer inducing effect of the nitrosamine.
