Bite on the scalp and buzzing in the head

A case is reported in a 29-year-old man from Spain , who presented with a papulous lesion on his scalp one month after returning from a trip to the Amazon, where he was bitten by an insect on the scalp. The patient was treated with levofloxacin but 10 days later the lesion had increased in size and the patient reported a drumming sensation in the head. The lesion was prepared for surgical resection, during which two larvae were extracted from the lesion. The larvae were identified as Dermatobia hominis.
