Dosing with recombinant human erythropoietin, used for treating early anemia of premature infants

In 32 premature newborn babies presenting with early anemia of preterm newborn, a human recombinant erythropoietin was used in doses 200 units/kg body mass, 300 units/kg body mass, and 400 units/kg body mass thrice a week for two weeks. A lasting effect has been secured with the dose 400 units/kg body mass three times weekly (i.e. 1200 units/kg body mass), which fact permitted avoiding transfusion of the erythrocytic matter.
