Application of lumbar sympathectomy for the lower extremities diabetic angiopathy in presence of purulent necrotic changes on the foot

Immediate results of treatment of 63 patients with diabetes mellitus and occlusion of main arteries of lower extremity on different level in chronic ischemia and presence of limited purulent-necrotic changes of toes were adduced. Indications for the operation performance were substantiated and immediate results were analyzed. Favourable result was achieved in 48 (76%) patients, fair--in 8 (13%), in 7 (11%) patients high amputation of extremity was done.
