This is a brief report on the Third African Regional Workshop of the African Gerontological Association held in Nairobi, Kenya on 12-17 April, 1999. The main topics were as follows: food security, poverty/social security, indicators of malnutrition, urbanization, nutrition transition and emergence of chronic diseases, health services/traditional healers, older women, and research-networking opportunities.
