Document Number: 529456The main market for milk plant contracting today lies outside the industrialized Western world; to serve this market, contractors must be prepared to offer a much wider range of consultancy services, extending from cattle fodder production to retail milk distribution. This article describes the formation and development of the Alfa-Laval Contracting Department. By 1972, turnkey operations were provided for a complete installation including site preparation and auxiliary facilities and erection on a virgin site. More recently the need has arisen to supply consultancy to non-dairy specialists as well as contracting services. Feasibility studies and economic viability studies now form part of projects undertaken by the Alfa-Laval Contracting Department.
