A study was made into rural populations' perception of utilization of health care services in two selected primary health centres in Tamil Nadu. Using observation and interview techniques, a total of 125 respondents selected at random from five sample villages were included in the study. It was found that 65.5% of the respondents had used the services of the health centres; however, they preferred the traditional practice of conducting child delivery at home. The majority of respondents had immunized their children. The discovery that the majority of people studied were not in favour a of a family welfare programme suggested that the utilization and image of health centres needed improving.
