A representative survey of the pig industry in the Republic of South Africa

The survey was of 40 of the larger pig farms throughout South Africa, producing about 10% of the 1.25 million pigs killed there in 1970. Disorders of possible nutritional origin included anaemia, reported for pigs up to weaning by 10 out of 36 farms and from weaning to slaughter by 3% of 37 farms producing over 130 000 weaners a year.
