123 patients (aged 24-88 years) had a fracture to the wrist, and were receiving conservative treatment. Patients were allocated to vitamin C, 500 mg/day in 1 capsule (n=57), or placebo (n=66) for 50 days. The incidence of reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) was measured. Fewer patients in the vitamin C group than in the placebo group had RSD. In patients with wrist fractures, Vitamin C reduced the incidence of post traumatic RSD.
