DDT has been in use in Formosa since 1948, and BHC was also used in 1955 and 1956, in some areas. In this paper, an account is given of tests carried out in 1956 and 1957 to investigate the possible appearance of resistance to DDT in six species of Anopheles (A. minimus Theo. A. hyrcanus sinensis Wied. A. maculate Theo. A. ludlowii (Theo.), A. tessellatus Theo, and A. subpictus indefinitus (Ludl.)) and also in Gulex pipiens fatigans Wied.
