Details of activities and food intake were recorded by a sub-sample of teenagers 16 to 171/2 years old during 4 periods of 7 days. Boys spent more time in moderate and strenuous activity while girls spent longer in light activity although there was an overall inactivity pattern with girls spending 95% and boys 90% of their time in sleep, very light or light activity. "Average" boys had more time than other groups in strenuous activity and "obese" girls were the least active.
