Use of a carbon implant in the treatment of patients with postoperative and recurrent hernia

The author shares his experiences with using a domestic carbon implant "Carbonicus-I" in treatment of patients with postoperative and recurrent ventral hernias. Operations were performed on 23 patients aged from 45 to 75 years, urgent operations being performed in 3 of them. Complications in the postoperative wounds were developed in 5 patients. No recurrent hernias were noted during 1.5 year of the follow-up observation. Advantages of the implant are described and the indications for using it are formulated.
