For 11, 366 cycles and 947. 2 woman-years, 500 fertile, normal, low social level women, under C-Quens and Sequentex therapy (chlormadinone-mestranol) were studied. In 5 years 220 women discontinued the therapy, but only 43 (8. 6%) of the total did so because of side-effects. No pregnancies were observed due to tablet failure; 8 pregnancies were reported because of patient failure. Mentrual cycles were regularized and dysmenorrhea diminished. Nausea, dizziness, headache and nervousness found in the 1st 3 cycles under treatment decreased thereafter, except nervousness which was more apparent at the 36th cycle. Breakthrough bleeding was found in 4. 1% of patients, usually associated with the omission of tablets. An average weight loss of 500 g is reported. Endometrial biopsies (366) and 361 vaginal smears did not show any pre-malignant or malignant finding. After discontinuing the sequential therapy (lasting from 1 to 10 months) 53 women became pregnant; the pregnancies and their products were normal.
