For 206 Turkish Brown cows aged 2-11 years and calving in 1988-90, gestation length averaged 285.9+or-0.46 days (range 261-330). Gestation length was significantly affected by year of mating and by age of cow, averaging 285.1 days for cows aged 2-3 years and 288.8 days for cows aged 10-11 years. The correlation of age of cow with gestation length was 0.96. Sex of fetus had no significant effect on gestation period. Of the 328 liveborn calves, 57.61% were males.
