Five instances were studied in which milk let-down in women occurred during sexual intercourse. The suggestion is advanced that orgasm in the human female consists in a neurohumoral reaction of smooth muscle organs, often accompanied by a concurrent vestige of a male behaviour pattern involving contraction of the homologues of the muscles of ejaculation. The success of the reproductive act may be related to the first of these phenomena, but not to the second.
