The purpose of this study was to investigate in rabbits the early phase of grave traumatic and haemorrhagic shock with fibrinolysis inhibitor (AMCA and Trasylol®), since in a previous study, accelerated fibrinolysis seemed to have an influence on the fluctuating course of coagulation and this might have been the cause of non-detectable fibrin thrombi in tissues when radioactive fibrinogen was used. AMCA was given intra-arterially 100 mg/kg every two hours or by intracaval infusion. One group was given AMCA and Trasylol 20000 units/kg. The inhibition of fibrinolysis, which we apparently could not totally abolish with the doses used, did not influence the course of shock and the results essentially. The rabbits were somewhat more acidotic with AMCA. A temporary increase of blood pressure was observed. In histological study some fibrin thrombi were observed. No increased accumulation of radioactive fibrinogen in tissues was detected.
