A massive mortality of various feral fish species from the southeast Caribbean involving Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines occurred between September and October 1999. Gross external lesions were minimum or absent. Several fish had multifocal petechial haemorrhages over the viscera. Bacteriology showed that all examined fish died from septicaemia or subacute S. iniae infection.
