The Korea Medical Association (KMA) has issued a report casting serious doubts on claims of the cloning of a human embryo. In early December 1998, fertility specialists at Kyunghee University Hospital in Seoul claimed they cloned an egg cell with two cells from the same patient but did not retain material from the experiment because they never sought to prove anything. The KMA report questions whether the nuclear transfer was done correctly, if at all, and whether the DNA from the transplanted cell or the egg cell drove the division of the new cell.
