A comparative study of height and weight of government and public school children of Panjabi population

The height and weight of 301 boys and 347 girls in government schools and of 286 boys and 255 girls in public schools in Delhi were measured and recorded by individual annual ages from 8 to 16 years. The children belonged to the Khatri and Arora Panjabi populations of Delhi. Those who attended the public schools and the government schools came, respectively, from the high and low socioeconomic sections of the community. The results showed a significantly better growth trend among the public school children, which was comparable with that recorded for American children of similar ages, than among those children who attended government schools.
