The study is based on a June-August 1978 survey of a representative sample of 390 people of over 14 and 405 heads of households in rural areas. Data collected covered age, sex, education, employment, knowledge about food, eating habits, health and income, and sources of information about nutrition. The second part of the project included the development of health and nutritional educational methods and the testing of various group educational programmes aimed at weight reduction and healthier eating habits.
