As peripheral neuropathy generally preceded optic neuritis in most of the reported cases, the very first manifestation of peripheral neuropathy should be considered a warning for immediate withdrawal of chloramphenicol. In our opinion, this practice/will prevent. the development of serious ocular toxicity.
