To accurate the diagnosis and treatment of retropharyngeal hematoma. The authors show a case of retropharyngeal hematoma that appears just after a difficult and urgent orotracheal intubation. The retropharyngeal hematomas use to be spontaneously uptaken so that treatment may be observation. Sometimes, a surgical drainage is needed. Etiology, clinical signs, diagnosis and surgical indications are reviewed.
