Family-centered care means delivery of full scale primary and specialty care, including supportive services, to HIV infected individuals and their family members. In the South Bronx, New York, women are often the sole heads of households and decision makers of their families. For them and their children state-of-the-art care of HIV is delivered through pediatricians, internists, obstetrician-gynecologists, infectious disease-trained specialists, social workers, legal consultants, pharmacists etc. who work together at a central location.
