Acute hepatitis after phytotherapy

A case is reported in a 63-year-old woman from France who presented in 1998 with asthenia, jaundice and dark-coloured urine. The patient reported taking a homeopathic remedy of Valeriana officinalis several weeks prior to the onset of symptoms. Tests revealed acute hepatitis. The patient stopped taking the V. officinalis remedy and within 3 months she was asymptomatic with normal liver function.
