The case is reported of a 56-year-old Turkish man who presented with jaundice, fever and pain in the upper right abdominal quadrant. Ultrasonography and computed tomography revealed an amoebic abscess caused by Entamoeba histolytica in the caudate lobe of the liver. Contrast material given via the drainage catheter revealed a large cavity and communication with the biliary tract. The patient was treated with metronidazole (3 x 750 mg/day).
