The case is described of a woman who in 1986, at the age of 26, had spent a month travelling in Senegal, and had had haematuria 10 months later and slight lower abdominal pain and voiding frequency during the subsequent years. In 1995, urinary schistosomiasis (Schistosoma haematobium) was discovered during a routine gynaecological examination. The cervix was inflamed and the bladder slightly inflamed. Treatment consisted of one dose of 40 mg/kg praziquantel.
