Irradiation is a highly effective therapeutic tool in the treatment of cancer pain, not only in metastatic disease like bone and soft-tissue metastases but also in infiltrative primary tumours and recurrences. Pain relief can be expected in about 80 percent of the patients. Depending on the radiosensitivity of the primary tumour radiotherapy ist accompanied by chemotherapy.
