The ultimate aim of the mass screening program for prostate cancer is to decrease prostate cancer mortality, which can be demonstrated only in a well-designed and well-controlled trial comparing screened and unscreened populations. However, no trials have been performed to demonstrate the effect of this program. Some reports claimed that such a program includes the high possibility of detecting clinically insignificant cancer, for example, latent cancer. In this paper, early cancer detection and treatment in mass screening program are discussed.
