Two letters comment on Ann Gibbons's discussion of the genetics of human-chimpanzee differences, which appeared in the September 4 issue. The first writer discusses the difficulties that will complicate attempts to pursue questions raised in the article. The second writer asserts that only extremely modest efforts are under way to conserve genomic diversity among human's closest evolutionary relatives.
