Managed Care has been predicted to become the single most important issue by the end of the century. Is there any evidence to suggest that this is happening? In this article, the author reviews recent health-care cost containment initiatives and merger and acquisition activity. A profile of the market in the United States and evidence of policy changes in the United Kingdom also illustrate the trends.
