PURPOSE. To determine the relationship between genital chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infection and tubal pregnancy and tubal infertility. METHODS. Selected 38 cases of tubal pregnancy and 42 cases of tubal infertility who were diagnosed through laparoscoptic operation between Nov. 1995 and Jun. 1996. Specimens for CT culture were taken from the cervical secretion, about tubal and the peritoneal fluid. Mccoy method was used for the test. RESULTS. In 41 (51.2%) out of 80 cases, the culture of CT was positive at least one point. There were 7 cases of cervical secretion (16.7%), 11 cases of rubal point (26.2%) and 4 cases of peritoneal fluid (9.5% were positive CT culture in 42 cases of tubal pregnancy, and there were 11 cases of cervical secretion (28.9%), 19 cases of tubal (50%) and 9 cases of peritoneal fluid (23.6%) were positive CT culture among 38 cases of tubal infertility. The result showed CT infection at tubal point was significant higher than that of cervical and peritoneal fluid (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS. Genital-CT infection is one of the important causes of tubal pregnancy and tubal infertility.
