The transformed plants were regenerated light and transplanted form cultural medium into soil successfully. The plants transformed by A. rhizogenes have characteristics of short stems and develop hairy roots, those and transformed by A. tumefaciens grow vigorously featuring, longer stems and well developed roots. Both biomass production and tanshenone content are higher than the original plant.
