Women (325) completed 3445 cycles of treatment with a combined oral contraceptive containing 30 .mu.g of ethinyl estradiol and 150 .mu.g of levonorgestrel (formerly d-norgestrel). One woman became pregnant due to patient failure. Cycle control was good: spotting, breakthrough bleeding and amenorrhea were reported in 2.7, 0.7 and 0.6% of cycles, respectively. The incidence of estrogen-related adverse effects was low in comparison to that of contraceptives containing 50 .mu.g of estrogen.
