Sterilization using the laparoscope

Clinical experiences with laparoscopic sterilization in 167 postpart um patients and 70 other patients are compared. Average laparoscopy time was 31 minutes for postpartum patients and 43 minutes for others. Postoperative complications were seen in 3 postpartum patients and in 5 others. All patients were released 1-2 days after operation, except in cases with complications. Follow-up showed 2 pregnancies. In 1 case, the round ligament had been severed instead of the tube; pregnancy had begun 4-6 weeks before surgery in the other case. Differences between the 2 groups were minimal.
