Studies have shown that up to two-thirds of child abuse injuries are inflicted on the head and neck region. Licensed dental providers are required by state law to report any cases of suspected child abuse or neglect. Therefore, it is important that the dental team learn the signs of child abuse and the simple mechanics of reporting suspected abuse. This article details some of these signs and how to document and report them.
