The diagnosis of trichosporonosis by cytology is discussed. Findings of Trichosporon beigelii in the urinary sediment of a 30-year-old female kidney transplant recipient from Italy are presented. Microscopic examination of the urine showed abundant arthroconidia, blastoconidia and short, septate hyphae. The diagnosis was confirmed when cultures grew T. beigelii.
