The use of suitable power equipment such as a diamond bur in a dental hand piece rather than nail clippers of wire cutters is recommended to trim teeth in rabbits and rodents. The use of nail clippers or wire cutters is painful, leaves sharp edges which may cause injury, damages the periapical germinal tissue and periodontal ligament and may cause longitudinal splits in the teeth leading to periodontal or endodontal complications.
