By means of immunohistochemistry (ABC), morphometric analysis and radioimmunoassay, the changes of fibronectin in saliva and tissues in 30 patients with oral lichen planus were investigated. The results indicated that the distribution forms of fibronectin had changed before the quantity changed. Fibronectin level was lower in saliva of oral lichen planus patients when compared with normal control group. We estimated that fibronectin may play an important role in occurrence and development of the oral lichen planus. The recurrent and unheal erosion may be related to the changes of fibronectin.
