The Department of Otolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, is currently a fully integrated university-based department whose clinical services, research, and teaching activities involve the four major McGill teaching hospitals: The Montreal General Hospital, The Royal Victoria Hospital, The Montreal Children's Hospital, and the Sir Mortimer B. Davis-Jewish General Hospital. How this evolved during the past 175 years is reviewed.
