The social revolution of 1952 put an end to the semi-feudal structure of rural society in Bolivia. The latifundia principle was abolished and, in 1953, a reform of the agricultural sector and the redistribution of land were introduced. The article examines the structure of rural society in the country and its development from 1952 to the present.
