Debate is continuing in Canada over the Human Reproductive and Genetic Technologies Act proposed by the government on June 14. This law would ban a range of reproductive research practices and commerce in eggs, sperm, and embryos. There is concern that the proposed legislation could stifle artificial insemination efforts, and scientists are worried about the limits that the law would place on embryo research.
