Micellar solubilized spectrophotometric determination of trace Mn2+ in rhizoma Zedoariae, fruit Amomi and herba Epimedii

A green quaternary complex of manganese with o-phenanthroline (Phen), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB) and chromazurol S (CAS) has been studied in the pH range of 10.10 apprx 10.80, with maximum absorption at 612 nm and molar absorptivity being 8.79 times 10-4 L cntdot mol-1 cntdot cm-1. Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0 apprx 16 mu-g/25 ml for manganese. The molar ratio for Mn-Phen-CTMAB-CAS in the complex is established to be 1:1:4:2. The influence of foreign ions and their elimination have also been studied.
