In 2 litters from a Bedlington bitch, with inbreeding coefficients of 0.124 and 0.141 resp., 3 of 9 pups developed renal disease accompanied by hyperparathyroidism and osteodystrophy at the age of 6 mth. It is suspected that susceptibility to the condition is inherited, but the number of affected pups was too small to allow any definite conclusions to be drawn.
