Success in the treatment of patients frequently relies on their taking prescribed medication. However, patients do not always comply. Some of the reasons for this are considered together with some of the means by which compliance can be improved. It is suggested that the patient requires sensitive individual attention in order to understand and use his or her medication to its best effect.
