Treatment of Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome (MRS) remains uncertain. Two cases of MRS treated with thalidomide are described. Two patients with cheilitis granulomatosa and recurrent facial edema have been treated with thalidomide (100 mg daily) for 3 and 6 months respectively. The efficacy of thalidomide was complete clinically and histologically in one case. In the second one, thalidomide suppressed attacks of facial edema and reduced lip swelling. These cases suggest a therapeutic effect of thalidomide in MRS.
