The following papers were among those presented at a meeting of the Society in London on 9th January, 1954. Observations on the physiology of Phytophthora fragariae, by P M. FLEETWOOD WALKER, gave a comparison of the nutritional requirements in liquid culture of this fungus, causing strawberry red core disease, and of P. cactorum. P. fragariae required more thiamin and grew only on hydrolysed casein and a mixture of amino acids plus calcium as nitrogen sources.
