The current regional commission approach of working as lagging regions is not considered economically sound. The results show that the most efficient migration centres tend to be outside the lagging areas, and not in distant cities, i.e. growth centres in the non-regional commission portions of relevant states. The problems of people in lagging regions need to be dealt with in a larger geographic perspective than in the lagging regions themselves.
